I feel like the worst wife and mother in the world!!
Our son Cash can crawl now so we installed upstairs and downstairs baby gates to prevent him from falling down the stairs.
This afternoon I walked up the stairs and I thought I closed the gate behind me. It turns out I didn’t push the gate hard enough for it to click and lock.
I didn’t notice the gate door had swung open. I did see Cash crawling around over by the stairs but I didn’t know the gate door was open.
MJ happened to be walking down the hall. I said “Hey baby. I love you.” I could see his eyes get big as saucers and he had a panicked look on his face. He yelled “No” and ran towards the stairs.
The gate was wide open and our son Cash was seconds away from falling down 18 hard wood stairs, but his amazing daddy saved him!
MJ made a diving save but he fell down the stairs and got hurt. There was blood on the stairs, on the wall, everywhere. He has 2 broken ribs, one of his teeth got knocked out, and he was unconscious until the paramedics got there.
It was the bravest thing I have ever seen!! Thank you Montgomery County/Bethesda paramedics for all of your help. You guys are heroes!
MJ is on heavy pain meds. He only woke up for a minute or two at the hospital. He asked me if Cash was ok and I said yes. He asked me if I was ok and I said yes. Then he fell back asleep. Baby I am not ok. I will not be ok until I know you are ok. I love you! I am sorry I was so stupid and left the gate open. It almost cost us our son.
I am married to the most wonderful man on earth. I am so lucky. I dont deserve him. I feel horrible baby. I am so stupid. I hate myself for being so dumb. Please forgive me.
Dr F, they took MJ straight to Walter Reed. Dubs and Mr Pete are with him. We are going to take turns staying with him.
