Dr. Frincke: It is time to replace your neurotech brain implant. Will you trust me to perform the surgery? I am seeking your permission this time around.

MJ: Ok. I do. When? What are the odds I will die? What are the odds of complications?

Dr. Frincke: Within the next few months. It is unlikely you will die. Complications are unlikely.

MJ: What are the odds of death/complications? What are the percentage odds? If you don’t know, can you give me your best guesses?

Dr. Frincke: 98% odds of success. 2% death/complications.

MJ: Do I have to do this?

Dr. Frincke: No, but you should. Issues will arise over time if you do not.

MJ: How long will it take? What is the recovery time?

Dr. Frincke: The procedure should take approximately 8 hours. I would like to keep you in the hospital for recovery and observation for 2 to 3 days.

MJ: My biggest fear isn’t death believe it or not. My biggest fear is having to go through learning how to walk and talk again like before. Malia and I have a family now. I don’t want to put our kids through that.

Dr. Frincke: Understood. You should be fine. Your body has accepted and lived with the implant. We are only replacing what is. This is not an experimental procedure.

MJ: Am I getting an upgrade or replacement?

Dr. Frincke: Both. The device will be identical. All that will change is the capability of the device. I believe with stimulation; you will no longer need to take your stimulation medication.

MJ: No more Adderall?

Dr. Frincke: That is my hope.

MJ: What about my migraines?

Dr. Frincke: One step at a time. We will have to see how your brain and body responds.

MJ: I can’t die. Before it was just me and Malia. If I would have died, she could have found someone else. I know she would make it without me, but I want to be there for my family.

Dr. Frincke: You will be fine. As you like to say, “I got this.” I got this MJ.

MJ: Ok. Let’s do it.

Malia’s Notes About MJ’s Surgery and Recovery-

After Dr. Frincke talked with MJ about the need to replace his brain machine interface implant device, we talked about it, and decided to go ahead with it. From there it was scheduled and now it is over and behind us.

I am happy to report that MJ made it through the surgery without any issues. He is recovering and will be back to normal soon.

The first thing MJ said when he woke up after the surgery was- “Am I in heaven? I have to be because look how perfect my family is.”

My biggest fear was the same as MJ’s. We both didn’t want to have to go through what we did back in 2016. If we had to, we would, but it would suck. So glad that didn’t happen!

One of the first questions MJ asked Dr. Frincke post-surgery was when we could start having sex again.

A special thank you to our family, friends and supporters who have shown overwhelming love and support.
