Hey everyone. My name is Meredith Brooks. I am MJ’s new assistant. I moved from Des Moines, Iowa to Austin about 4 weeks ago, and I am 26 years old. Go Hawkeyes!
My week one recap and my feelings about the job and everything so far-
I got to meet Matthew McConaughey. MJ and him insult the daylights out of each other but you can tell it is all in good fun and friendship. Mr. McConaughey walks through the door to MJ and Malia’s place and says “Malia, where you at? I’m here to check on my twins. I hope that whacker MJ isn’t here. I don’t wanna have to bust his head open 2014 style.” He just walked in. He is a movie star. Nobody stopped what they were doing. It was like a regular old neighbor walked in. Its only Matthew McConaughey everybody, big Hollywood movie star, no big deal or anything.
I got to meet a half dozen Texas congresspeople. MJ and some military Mr. Smith from the Matrix guy met with one of them in their office under the capital building. I was a little bit scared. I could hear what they were saying. MJ and the Mr. Smith guy were screaming at the congressman. I never heard the congressman say anything back. When they walked out of his office, MJ slammed the door so hard the glass in the door broke.
I got to meet the whole Department of Defense. They are here for the wedding. I do mean like all of them and Army Navy people in uniform. MJ spent hours talking with Secretary Fanning of the Army. They must be close friends. I could tell MJ looks up to him or respects him. Maybe both.
Malia has MJ wrapped around her finger. She kept messing with MJ’s computer one day. He got so frustrated! When MJ went to use the restroom, Malia told me whenever she is in the mood, she drives MJ crazy, because then he will want to do it. Sure enough, MJ left the bathroom, grabbed her hand, walked her into the bedroom and closed the door. (I stepped out on the balcony.)
I love Malia! She is so sweet. MJ is interesting. He is nice most of the time. Seeing him go off on the congressman was scary though, for real. It’s part of the job I guess. I never felt like I was in danger. I was more scared for the congressman. Malia has no fear of MJ at all. He follows her around everywhere. She will be doing her stuff and MJ will be trying to get her attention and she almost ignores him, and that makes him try even harder. It is entertaining. I like her girl power. She definitely has it! I think I can learn a lot from from her.
Week 2 starts tomorrow. I got invited to the wedding. I am so excited! This wedding is private. Private with a capital P. We rode over to the base where they are getting married. You would think the President was coming. Malia sent MJ away. She made him go stay at his house in the sticks, the night before the wedding. MJ has another house somewhere in Austin.
I found out they are having a big public wedding later this year. MJ’s mom wanted them to be married before the babies were born. His mom is the other woman he worships. Malia and his mom seem to be his guiding lights.
Congratulations Malia and MJ!!
Thank you for letting me post what my first week was like.
Warmest wishes,
Meredith Brooks
