They say you learn something every day. Well, the thing I learned today, I thought was both interesting and worth writing about.
In one situation today, I was called crazy, and in separate situation, which was about the same thing, I was called brilliant. Now, how can that be? Am I crazy? Am I brilliant? Do I need a third situation about the same thing, so I can have a crazy or brilliant tiebreaker?
Whenever I’m stumped about something business wise, I call my old boss, back from the days when I was a commodities broker. I told him about the crazy/brilliant situations, and then I asked him what his thoughts were about it. He said- “Depending on which side of something you’re on, often times will determine whether you’re seen as crazy or brilliant. The people that are against you/your competition, are probably the ones that called you crazy, and the ones that were for you, probably called you brilliant. Is that right?” I said yes. Then he said- “MJ, I know you, and I can definitely say that you are both, but that’s what makes you unique. That’s also what makes you successful, because you can just think shit up. If you were older and smoked cigars, I would call you “MJ The Hannibal”, because then you would be just like old dude from the A-Team.”
What I took away from today’s crazy or brilliant comments, was don’t live your life on what other people think, because if you listen to the people who are not for you, you’re doomed to fail.
“Don’t settle for less than everything you want. Know when to shut up and collect the money. It’s better to get paid than be right. Money doesn’t buy happiness, but it can afford you the time to find happiness. Without a challenge, you can’t rise to anything. Pick your battles. Push your limits. Ask for more. Demand better. Eliminate should from your life by doing. Live a life without regrets, by trying everything that interests you in the least, and don’t waste time, because time is the most valuable commodity in life.” Michael “MJ The Terrible” Johnson – Founder & Owner – Masters of Money, LLC.
