So, funny social media connection story…..
I recently connected on LinkedIn in with the Governor of North Carolina. We met a party at the end of last year. I didn’t know who he was and he didn’t know who I was. That said, we both had on the exact same tux, so it was an easy conversation starter.
Malia walked up behind me. I couldn’t see her, but he could. When Malia gets next to both of us, he says- “Ms. Malia, gorgeous as always.” She said- “Why thank you Mr. Governor.” Then he said- “Is that hacker boyfriend of yours here? He scares the piss out of me. Pardon my North Carolina french.” She said- “Please shake each others hands. (We shook hands) Mr. Governor, you are shaking my hacker boyfriend’s hand.”
He apologized, and from there we got completely shitfaced. At one point asked me what I liked about North Carolina. I told him my family and I used to drive through the state every year, on our way to Myrtle Beach. I told him I liked Michael Jordan, who was born there. Then it happened. I mentioned Ric Flair. If you don’t know who Ric Flair is, he was a famous professional wrestler. One of his trade marks is saying Woooooo!
The governor and I proceeded to Woooooo so loud, and so frequent, people were commenting left and right. “Bartender, I’ll have one of whatever they’re having please.” “We better get away from these two.”
The Secretary of State for Arizona, Michele Reagon, asked us what our blood alcohol content was. We looked at each other and said Wooooooo! It was a fun night. I guess he ended up liking Malia’s hacker boyfriend, because that is how we remembered each other, and connected the other day.
Mr. Governor, may I just say, that I hope to see you at the FOTLSS ball this year, and Wooooooooooo!!!
